About the Presenters:

Neil Thompson is the owner of "Neil Thompson. I'm a patent agent. I'm a writer." He earned his BS in Materials Engineering from the University of Toronto, a MS in Bioengineering from Clemson University, and an MS in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University. He is a registered Professional Engineer and a registered patent agent with the US Patent & Trademark Office. For several years, he worked as a product development engineer in the medical device industry. Now as a patent agent, he guides inventors through the patent application process.

Eric Hanscom earned his J.D. at University of California Hastings College of Law, where he was the Chief Managing Editor of the Hastings International and Comparative Law Review. He started his legal practice in 1995 as a sole practitioner and it has grown into an international practice that offers clients small business individual attention while providing many large business amenities.  Not only has Eric filed applications advocating his clients’ marks and inventions, he has also tapped into his own imagination and ingenuity to solve common problems that he has faced in his everyday life. Eric is listed as an inventor on 8 separate patents and patent applications, and is the holder of over 10 trademarks.
